This delightful little dress uses a pattern which automatically makes the little peaks at the base. Both the back and front are the same up to the armhole, where the back splits for the button opening, then extends over the shoulders to join to the front just below shoulder level. This gives a smooth fit over the shoulder and disguises the shoulder seam. The sleeves repeat the little peaks featured on the base of the skirt. The ribbed cuff pulls the sleeve in for a snug fit at the wrist. The main sleeve is in quick stocking stitch and then changes to ribbing at the top, creating the mock ‘gathering’ for the smocking. (The smocking chart is included in the pattern.) The neck is finished off with easy shell crocheting and there are 3 buttons on the back bodice for the opening. Easy pattern and easy to make.
